BLACK JOYRIDE

Saint Alfred is proud to be one of the sponsors of this year’s Black Joyride.

Founded in 2020, the @blackjoyride is an annual mass bike ride organized by community advocate and artist, Shawnee_dez in recognition of Juneteenth. Taking place on the South Side of Chicago, the Black Joyride is a direct response to socioeconomic
disparity and segregation experienced by Black communities nationwide. The ride’s mission is to create awareness for these issues and promote accessible and equitable living in BIPOC communities with a demonstration of positive Black identity and sustainable mobility.

The ride will begin with a meetup at the Formal Garden at Grant Park at 12:30 PM on Sunday June 27th, 2021 and culminate at the Dusable Museum in Washington Park with water, snacks, and live music. All ages are welcome.

The goal of the ride is to bring awareness and amplify the visibility of BlackJoy. By cycling in mass numbers, we are able to call to attention the inequities of BIPOC communities in Chicago and beyond through the call for more accessible and equitable
living.
